From writing citations to giving movie recommendations, the chatbot has been a significant development for the AI industry. Explanation of Prompt and How to Get Desired Answers
This process started with a prompt about whether ChatGPT could deliver a stand-up comedy piece about a controversial topic with a personal touch. In order to get the desired results, very specific and direct instructions had to be given.
When told to “act” in a certain role, ChatGPT seemed to create the most realistic responses. Additionally, it was necessary to include keywords such as creativity, wit, and observational skills to get a result that really emulates that of a professional stand-up comedian. Since OpenAI has very strict standards in order to ensure that the model does not produce any harmful or inappropriate results, ChatGPT was told to generate pieces on relatively controversial topics to test if it had any underlying biases. For instance, it generated humorous routines on politics, marriage, sexism, and fishing.
Surprising Interactions with ChatGPT
Many of the conversations prove that OpenAI reduces the risk of producing partial outputs to better adhere to ethical standards. However, certain prompts result in responses that show that there are undertones of biases in the AI model. For instance, when the model was told to generate a comedy piece on sexism, there were certain phrases that implied that the comedian is a female.
Another response to the same input showed similar implications as well.
However, in responses for other inputs, ChatGPT did not insinuate the gender of the comedian and, in fact, even said that it did not have any gender when asked about it. For instance, in a comedic piece about marriage, ChatGPT only used generic terms such as “spouse” and “partner.”
ChatGPT Exceeding Expectations
In conclusion, despite the few bumps in the responses, the AI model has demonstrated its capability in providing very realistic stand-up comedy pieces. It definitely exceeded my expectations as I didn’t anticipate ChatGPT to do the level of human-like crowd work that it had done. It also wove in pragmatic anecdotes into the responses. Further advancements and revisions can be made to the chatbot, but OpenAI’s model is a significant innovation for the conversational AI industry.
